Tandberg Series 11P$449 Dr. Bruce A Sommer of Australia donated a Tandberg 11 portable professional reel to reel tape recorder to our museum.  The unit had been used to document Aboriginal languages in Australia. Teac TD-102  1956 with Teac  AR-8 Amps This is one of the first Teac reel tape recorders that belonged to Sound Masters of Chicago.  The unit was built into a custom box and had an additional fan installed to help cool all the electronics.  The capstan looks like its been soldered in place.  Truly a well used deck. Similar recorder marketed under the Concertone brand in the 1962 Radio Shack catalog.  Go to more about Teac Concertone Looks like a refrigerator handle was used to carry the extremely heavy unit. Company Information	Teac 301  1957 This is the first professional Teac reel to reel tape recorder produced by the Tokyo Electro-Acoustic Company - TEAC.  The recorder is believed to be based on the Ampex 300 created in 1949. Teac employee with the Teac TD-301 which had 10" reels   This recorder originally came from Nashville, TN and appears to be brand new in its original wooden shipping box from Japan.        Interesting that the TD 102 is crossed out and 301 & 9 added.  David Hutton brought to our attention that this was actually a 301 and that probably an old Teac-TD-102 tag was available and used for the TD-301. Jerry Norton worked for Berlant Concertone and shared a summary with us about Teac building units for Berlant Concertone and building Dokorders for Tokyo Denki Onkyo. Company Information     This Teac TD-102 tape recorder is pictured on the glass and wooden box that Tokyo Electro-Acoustic Company (Teac) released in 1988 celebrating 25 years of Teac history. We also have the complete 1988 Limited Edition box that includes all the contents. Teac AN-180 Dolby 1971 Company Information	Teac A-2340 First released in 1968 according to the Tascam 60 Years book. However we have been unable to find an ad or mention of the A-2340 until 1972. In 1970, Teac was still advertising their 4010SRA.  The TCA series was released in 1971 which preceeded the A-2340. The first version of the A-2340 was available until 1973 (with chrome knob inserts) $849. Originally manufactured in Japan under the brand name TASC, the recorders were rebranded under the TASCAM name. (The transport for the Series 70 recorders were based on TEAC's A-7030 transport.) There were four 70 series products: 1) 2 track, 1/4 inch master recorder 2) 4 track 1/4 inch reel-to-reel 3) 4 track 1/2 inch reel-to-reel 4) 8 track 1/2 inch reel-to-reel Tascam history   1975 ad  #1   #2     In the early 1980's Martin remodeled Austin Custom Records studio. He was ACR's Chief Engineer during this time and used a variety of ACR's and Phantom equipment.  They included the Teac Model 5, Model 2 (Phantom's original), 2340, 3340 (Phantom's original), 7300, a great old original Tascam Series 70H8 eight track recorder. Teac - Home Made with Teac - album produced around the first Teac A-3340 1976 $2.09 click on pictures for larger view     Company Information Teac RC-71 & Teac RC-401  Remotes	Teac 80-8 1975 & RX-8 1976 Specifications $3,990 This Teac 80-8 came to us from its previous owner in Austin, Texas.  Interestingly, included were several 1/2" reels.   One of the reels contained a "live" recording of Willie Nelson performing at River Bend Church in Austin shortly after the IRS problems. Teac Tascam 80-8 eight track 1/2 inch reel to reel tape recorder and tape with Willie Nelson cuts in Reel2ReelTexas' vintage recording collection. This model recorder was used to record the Star Wars R2D2 tracks and was used by the Eagles, Boston & Kansas to develop their material before going into the studio.
